Jeff Cummings Inducted into Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame

·        Longtime industry advocate of off-road motorsports

·        Helped BFGoodrich move into rock-crawling space

RENO, Nev. – Oct. 23, 2023 – Jeff Cummings, a longtime industry veteran and advocate for off-road motorsports, was inducted into the Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame (ORMHOF) at the organization’s annual ceremony in September.

“I look at this list (of inductees), and I’m completely in awe that I’m on it,” Cummings said in his speech during the ceremony. “I’m a tire guy; I don’t do what most all of you do – set amazing records, fighting to keep our lands open and building incredible machines. I’ve been such a fan of what you do since I stumbled into off-road.”

Cummings spent over 43 years with BFGoodrich. Until his retirement in 2022, he held various roles, including educator, coach and inspirational leader for all involved in off-road racing. He was known for his passion for the sport and commitment to helping others learn and grow.

Under his leadership, BFGoodrich established itself as the top tire manufacturer in the SCORE International competition and broke 100 overall victories at the 2022 San Felipe 250. Cummings was named the Sal Fish SCORE Person of the Year in 2013.

“Jeff is a true champion of off-road motorsports,” said Harold Phillips, Global General Manager of BFGoodrich. “He has dedicated his career to educating people about the importance of tires and especially in the world of motorsports.”

One of Cummings’s notable achievements was helping to build the business case for BFGoodrich to enter the rock-crawling segment of the sport. He was crucial in developing and introducing the brand’s first purpose-built rock-crawling tire, Krawler TA KX tire. 

BFGoodrich’s involvement with rock crawling expanded into events like King of the Hammers and opened the doors for further investments in the sport.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Cummings was also a dedicated volunteer and mentor. He worked tirelessly to promote the sport of off-road racing and to help others succeed.

“The phrase 'Dirty Tires, Happy Tires' has really been one of my driving foundations,” Cummings said during the ceremony. “I have had a front-row seat and an all-access pass. I ended up, quite by accident, in the tire business and got to chase rally cars around. I’ve truly been blessed.”
