Team BFGoodrich takes home hardware from 2025 One Lap of America

In a David vs. Goliath scenario at the 2025 One Lap of America, the BFGoodrich team of Ross Bentley and Ed Gliss were underdogs competing in a Honda Civic Type R against high-horsepower beasts, but the duo displayed both skill and tenacity en route to two class wins.

Bentley, a former pro driver and author of “Speed Secrets,” and Gliss, a former Michelin test driver, were presented a first-place trophy in the Stock Touring class and a third-place trophy in the Mid-priced Sedan class.

“The 2025 One Lap of America was challenging, fun, tiring and rewarding,” Bentley said. “In 10 events in our Honda Civic Type R, Ed and I were able to push the BFGoodrich g-Force Phenoms to the very limit, and never once did we feel that we’d gone too far. They were predictable, confidence-inspiring, forgiving and stuck to the track in all conditions — beating much faster cars. We won in so many ways!”

The g-Force Phenom T/A tire, the newest entry in BFGoodrich’s g-Force Family, is an ultra-high performance summer tire designed for excellent control, grip and braking in both wet and dry conditions. While there was no wet weather during the 2025 One Lap of America, the BFG team did have a strong showing in the wet skid pad competition.

“Throughout the week, we found ourselves in the staging area preparing to enter the track surrounded by Corvettes, Mustangs, Porsches and Camaros – most of which had significantly more horsepower and were using a 200-treadwear tire compared with our 380-treadwear,” Gliss said. “This is perhaps the most compelling evidence of how strong the BFGoodrich Phenom T/A tire is – allowing us to punch above our weight all week.”

The Phenom, the official tire of the Skip Barber Racing School, is now available in 50 sizes after a February launch. To find your size, availability and pricing, visit bfgoodrichtires.com or your local BFGoodrich dealer.

One Lap of America, presented by Tire Rack, began in 1984 as a cross-country race, similar to Cannonball Run. It’s now a circuit of events at tracks around the country, with overnight road trips in between. Street-legal cars must race on one set of street-legal tires for the entirety of the event.
