Team BFGoodrich members Bryce Menzies and Rob MacCachren continued their strong start to the off-road racing season to lead drivers racing on BFGoodrich® Tires to a big weekend at the opening Traxxas TORC Series race in Dodge City, Kansas.
At the first race of the Traxxas TORC Series Presented by AMSOIL at Dodge City Raceway Park, a raucous crowd battled some adverse weather conditions to watch what proved to be excellent racing at the inaugural short course race at this venue.
The weekend included BFGoodrich Tires taking both Pro 2 races and a podium sweep in Pro 4 competition on Friday.
"The short course off-road racing season is still young but it is safe to say BFGoodrich has proven its toughness and ability to lead drivers to victory," said Peter Calhoun, Motorsports Manager for BFGoodrich Tires. "We were thrilled to help our drivers achieve three TORC pro class wins and nine podium finishes in Dodge City."
After winning the BITD Mint 400 and a second place finish at the San Felipe 250, Menzies wasted no time in capturing the Pro 2 competition on opening night. After chasing down Mike Oberg, Menzies got an angle on leader Chad Hord and made the pass en route to the victory, with Rob MacCachren eventually finishing second.
Following that race, the Pro 4 division proved to be dominated by BFGoodrich Tires.
Ricky Johnson made a pass of Scott Douglas on lap four and not even a caution when Rob MacCachren rolled his truck could stop him from capturing the win. Meanwhile Scott Douglas and Mike Jenkins rounded out the podium for a BFG sweep - all running on BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain kr tires.
On Saturday meanwhile MacCachren pulled a similar one-two act in the Pro 2 category after a second place finish to Menzies on Friday by capturing the Pro 2 category win. When the green flag dropped, Hord got out front on the first lap with Mike Jenkins not far behind and MacCachren taking the third spot. MacCachren made the pass to move into the top spot on lap eight while Menzies charged from the sixth position to battle MacCachren for the remainder of the race but was beaten to the finish to settle for second place.
Also on Saturday, MacCachren bounced back from a truck fire he experienced with his Pro 4 truck on Friday to capture third place in the Pro 4 division.
Scott Douglas, also on BFGoodrich Tires, placed second in Saturday's Pro 4 competition.
Another Team BFGoodrich member, last year's Traxxas TORC Pro Lite champion, Brad Lovell, placed fourth on Friday in Pro Lite, but a disappointing 12th on Saturday after having to pit early for repairs.
The next rounds of the Traxxas TORC Series will be held at the historic eldora Speedway, a half-mile dirt racing facility located in western Ohio.
