The 2025 SCORE International Baja 1000 will be extra special for BFGoodrich Tires, as it marks half a century of competition in North America’s most famous desert race.
BFGoodrich boasts a storied history in off-road racing, dating back to the early days of the sport. The Baja 1000 began in 1967 as the NORRA Mexican 1000 and its legend has grown, placing it alongside marquee races like the Indianapolis 500 and the Dakar Rally.
“Since 1976, BFGoodrich has been connected with the iconic Baja 1000, and we’re proud to have become woven into the fabric of the Baja racing community,” said Raymond Cotton, North American Motorsports Director for BFGoodrich. “I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this 50-year milepost than by bringing home BFGoodrich’s 35th overall Baja 1000 victory. Our race teams are ready for the challenge. After all, we put ‘Baja Champion’ on our tires for a reason.”
Race details
The 58th SCORE Baja 1000 runs Nov. 10-16, with the race beginning the morning of Friday, Nov. 14. Racers will venture 854 miles across the rugged terrain of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula, starting and finishing in Ensenada. Qualifying on Nov. 11 will determine the starting order in the Trophy Truck, Trophy Truck Legend, Trophy Truck Spec and Class 1 classes.
Making history
BFGoodrich first competed in the Baja 1000 in 1976 with two entries. After competing for 11 years, BFGoodrich Racing’s first overall SCORE Baja 1000 victory came in 1986 with Mark McMillin on second-generation Radial All-Terrain T/A tires. It was the first of what would become a 20-year streak of overall Baja 1000 wins.
