• Householder defends his Mint 400 championship
• Heger continues his high-profile winning streak
Adam Householder defied the dangers of the desert on Saturday to become the second back-to-back Mint 400 overall winner in the modern era.
Saturday’s Unlimited Race was a battle of attrition, with several trucks encountering problems and mechanical issues out on the rocky, rutted course. Householder and co-driver Trevor Ellingham overcame the elements, taking their two-wheel-drive Unlimited Truck from start to finish in 6:59:06 – the only vehicle in the race to finish in under seven hours.
The last racer to repeat as Mint 400 champion was Justin Lofton, who accomplished the feat in 2015 and 2016.
“Adam and the Householder family put together another amazing performance,” said Raymond Cotton, North American motorsports director. “We couldn’t be more proud of the endurance and grit shown by all the teams supported by BFGoodrich Racing. This truly was another fantastic Mint 400.”
Householder’s victory is also BFGoodrich Racing’s 13th consecutive overall victory at “The Great American Off-Road Race.” BFGoodrich racers swept the podium, with Conner McMullen and Troy Grabowski taking second and third overall and first and second in the Unlimited Truck Spec class, respectively.
Limited Race
Brock Heger, of the Polaris Factory Race Team, added another major trophy to his mantel.
Racing his RZR in the UTV Pro Open class, he conquered the 380-mile course in 7:11:30. Heger now has won the Baja 1000, Dakar Rally, King of the Hammers and the Mint 400 during the past four months.
Cayden MacCachren and Mitch Guthrie, also running BFGoodrich Baja T/A KR2 SXS/UTV tires, rounded out the podium in second and third place, respectively. Cole Potts took first place in Class 10.
Wrapup
All told, BFGoodrich Racing earned 18 class wins on the 95-mile course, and an additional eight class wins on the 73-mile course for lower-powered classes, such as stock and vintage vehicles. Brad Lovell earned the Stock Production Mini/Mid Truck classes for Ford. John Williams took the checkered flag in the R600:Stock Class.
